| Hey Beautiful Chanters: I've played a lot of music festivals in the last decade, and there is no sweeter gathering focused on kirtan and yoga than Bhaktifest. For years, I've been telling the organizers that the Midwest has some of the most ecstatic chanters on the planet! So this year, I'm happy to say they've listened, and the first annual Bhaktifest Midwest, scheduled for June 29 - July 1 in Madison, WI. The musical lineup includes Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Dave Stringer, Donna De Lory, Sean Johnson & the Wild Lotus Band, Gaura Vani, Girish, Shyam Das, Arjun Baba, David Newman & Mira, Brenda McMorrow, Ragani, Devi 2000, Kirtan Path and Sitara & Kalyani, plus many more fine musicians. Click here or on the image below to view a video of Bhaktifest: Yoga teachers and workshop leaders include Saul David Raye, Sarah Ivanhoe, Mark Whitwell, Daren Friesen, Amy Treciokas, Rich Logan, Katherine Austin, Meg Galarza, Nikki Myers, Marnie Task, Gina Caputo, Dearbhla Kelly, Jerry Landau, Aubree Saia, Quinn Kearney and many others. I have beautiful memories of my life as a student at The University of Wisconsin in the 1980's, so this will be a sweet homecoming. Madison is an isthmus surrounded by five lakes, and the Bhaktifest main stage and camping grounds will situated right on Lake Monona, a fine location for a summer festival. Hotels are within walking distance. A strong turnout this year will help ensure that the Midwest is better recognized as a vital source of talent, enthusiasm, open mindedness and cultural creativity. Looking forward to singing with you again soon! Tickets are available online by clicking here. Please use the discount code 2012stringer when booking. Big Love, Dave Bhaktifest is looking for volunteers throughout the Midwest to pass out flyers at local Kirtans and spiritual events and put up posters at Yoga studios, health food stores and spiritual centers. Experience with social media such as Facebook and Twitter is a plus. If you are interested or know someone who may be, please forward this information to them. Bhaktifest has a number of options to give volunteers in exchange, including free tickets to the festival.
